Digit-al camera: The one-inch snapper which fits on your finger

Monday, September 26th, 2011

The miniature one inch-squared camera can amazingly take two megapixel images and can even shoot video.

Hammacher Schlemmer’s General Manager, Fred Berns, said: ‘Although The World’s Smallest Camera is only slightly larger than a marble, it takes still images and records video just like much larger cameras.

The World’s Smallest Camera, as boasted by its makers, can take JPEG images with a resolution of 1600 x 1200 and comes complete with autofocus.

The camera also connects to a computer via a USB cable, just like regular pieces of photography equipment.

Samsung MV800 Multi-View

Wednesday, September 21st, 2011

The Samsung MV800 Multiview is the latest addition to the company’s self-portrait oriented compact camera range, along with the existing 2View models. The 2View range did this in a slightly clunky way by having a second screen on the front of the camera whereas the MV800 does things a little different, employing a single screen that normally faces rearwards but can flip all the way up until it can face the front.

It’s a simple variation on the established flip and twist screens, generally found on larger, SLR-style, cameras, but is cheaper to produce and more compact. Unfortunately it’s also more cumbersome.

Normal operation of the camera is easy enough with just a power button, shutter button and zoom control on the top edge and two further buttons on the back – just power on, point and click. The camera’s solid build and textured finish gives you a decent purchase, and looks good too. Samsung has even thought about how you’re going to operate the camera when the screen is flipped up on its sturdy, easy to use hinge; on the back there’s a second shutter button for more easily taking one handed snaps.

Yes, it allows the camera to be more compact and elegant than if it were to use a twist and flip screen, but it also doesn’t help you to shoot at any other awkward angle, whether off to the side or overhead. The 5x optical zoom (equivalent to 26mm-130mm) offers a decent range from quite wide to slightly telephoto. Correct us if we’re wrong but is the ability to take handheld (rather than timed) self portraits really your biggest consideration when buying a camera? If it is, what’s wrong with the old self portrait mirror? However, at £200-£250, the MV800 is only a little expensive considering its basic shooting abilities and is otherwise an attractive and well built camera.

WOMANatomy 101…let class begin!

“The body is meant to be seen, not all covered up.”

                     -- Marilyn Monroe

Human anatomy can be precisely defined as a complementary basic medical science, which deals with the scientific study of morphology of the human body. In simpler words, human anatomy is the study of the structure of the human body.

There are two main levels of structure of the human body: macroscopic or “gross anatomy” and microscopic or “histology”. In gross anatomy, the human body is studied as seen by the naked eye, while histology is the study of organs and tissues under a microscope. I’d like to add a third methodology specific to studying the human female body and I’d like to call it…WOMANatomy!

WOMANatomy is unique in its study as there are absolutely no scientific elements to it whatsoever. None! And the best part, anyone can do it! It’s a free reign approach to connect certain regions of the female body that we perceive to be visually stimulating to the physical reaction we actually feel from the visual stimulation. Hmmm, maybe that is scientific after all. Look… see boobs… get boner. OK, so I’m not breaking new ground here. But I do love the name though. It makes me feel like a science professor when I’m lusting after pretty naked girls. “I’m not objectifying women, I’m studying WOMANatomy !”

“The beauty of a woman is not in the clothes she wears, the figure that she carries, or the way she combs her hair. The beauty of a woman is seen in her eyes, because that is the doorway to her heart, the place where love resides. True beauty in a woman is reflected in her soul. It’s the caring that she lovingly gives, the passion that she shows & the beauty of a woman only grows with passing years.”
